Geoff Bennett's career as a modern dance accompanist/composer began in 1980 at the University of Waterloo's Dance program with Choreographer/teacher Gabby Kamino and mentored by percussionist Greg Kozak.
Over the past twenty-five years Geoff has played literally thousands of dance classes in studios around the world, from Toronto and across Canada, to New York City, London, Budapest and Tokyo.
Geoff was principal accompanist from 1988-2001 for Dancemakers Company under Artistic Director Serge Bennathan. During this time he also played extensively at The National Ballet School and Toronto Dance Theatre.
Other notable teachers and choreographers who helped shape Geoff's unique style of accompaniment include Peter Boneham, Peggy Baker, David Earle, Toru Shimazaki, Trish Beattie, Julia Sasso, Christopher House, Robert Desrosiers, Kathryn Brown, David Parsons, and Moses Pendleton. |
